Maybe as many of the people over here, i bought sharkfx through through the website as electronic download only. I wondering if the physical box contain more stuffs as libraries or goodies, if it is the case, is there any way/cost to get the box? BTW, i realize that the demo for Viacad Pro, contains symbol libraries that are not included on the shark installer, that make me think about this: Which are the differences between Sharkfx and Viacadpro? Anyone knows something about? Luis G.

Right-click contextual menu item to unhide hidden items in a layer, to avoid unhiding or the SHOW ALL items. Nice for keeping the view uncluttered. I wish VCP 7 had that.

Doesn't work for me like that, that contextual menu command hide an show all the layers, not the items on the selected layer, except the working one.
Corrected, you referring to hide unhide kind of items on view, like meshes, solids, lines, etc.
my mistake

I been testing the demo for Viacad pro, i notice some differences with shark, some features are not presents, but the viacad by self is very complete to do the major part of the job, it could be a good option for multi license software for an design team. Regarding the art/box & manual, I couldn't get any info about how to get it, in the site there is an option for viacad but not for shark; Funny that this is the main intend for this topic, and almost no word about it. There is no box for ViaCAD Pro v7 at this time. It is available only as an electronic download. Box vs Electronic Download Boxed versions include a printed user guide, dvd, and reference card. The installer is the same between boxed and electronic download versions. Tim

Agree with you JJ, it is more comfy to manipulate a physical document, but I am hunting object libraries :)

if you are looking for standard components (also in 3D) you may want check TraceParts or PartSolutions or 3D ContentCentral or McMaster or ThomasNet, use the Acis SAT format for importing natively to Shark/VC.
TraceParts provides a simple API which allows to embed an interface and import parts directly from inside an application. Which many common CAx system in the meanwhile are using.
I wonder if this could be added to SFX too?

Thanks Posh, actually, those are my main sources also, an api from inside shark will be great, My point on this topic it is that viacad installer include some libraries (not good ones BTW) that shark installer not, so i was wondering if the dvd installer maybe had this goodies, that Tim clarified that no. I remember that Concepts Unlimited used to have some 3d libraries samples that were vanished some how, and also has been long discussed in this forum the lack of a good objects libraries for shark, that seems that has been rejected instead of been improved. Most of the 3d software offer this, sometimes included for free and some times as an extra add-on for a couple $ (that i don't mind if is a good library). Maybe soon i hope... Luis G.

if you are keen on the Shark 2D/3D wireframe symbols, you may want download from our download area.
The API is already provided by TraceParts for embedding their interface to standard components into CAx apps.
Creating a native symbol library in 2D is already a lot of work, could imagine that 3D symbols are more demanding.

Thanks for the link Posh (Norbert?), I think i have that one already. I am agree that a symbol library demand a lot of work, i just point at disadvantage that shark have over other similar softwares that include a good one. Just a though, it is possible to open in this forum an special section with a well classified root structure for symbols where we can collaborate uploading shark/vc native models, (nuts, screws, vises, motors, hardware, etc), an make it available for all of us of course. How many time do you thing it will took us to complete it? Luis G.
