I use the export and import to and from Shark FX a lot for extracting a part out of a file or to built an assembly from different files.
In this proces a usually only want to im/export the parts with its history, colour and rendermaterial, but I don't want the other empty layers, unused linestyles, userviews etc. (after several import-export actions i have tens of empty layers, userview and linestyle which make working confusing).

Could the import and export to and from Shark get some filters/checkboxes? My suggestions for filters are:
- empty layers
- linestyles
- userviews
- userplanes
- ?

I posted this suggestion in 2008, and now we have the compact utility which I use a lot to get rid of empty layers after an export.
But after a few imports of Shark part into an assembly i get a lot of user views (today i had more then 100!! users views after importing 2 Shark files). And deleting user views is a hell of a job.
Can we have something to easily remove user views.
Can we have an import filter for Shark import for user views, line styles etc.

Maarten,
I think the work around is to export the layers / parts you need, open the new Shark file and then use the File / Compact... / Empty Layers command to delete all the empty layers in your new file.

It would be nice if this was done automagically at export, and should probably work that way, but at least there is now a tool to remove all of those layers with one command.
