I've had this problem

I'm afraid it's mostly the fault of the text

The letters are made to look great - they are not made to be interpreted perfectly in CAD

A lot of clean up is necessary - change object type to lines - then some letters will extrude fine - others you will have to fiddle with or even trace over manually

How much draft are you asking for ? ... Don't forget about self-intersection

Hello Jol,

Many thanks for your answer.

The Problem with Text Extrude i have allways in ViaCad Pro.
I know the problem self-intersection

The problem with the selfoverlapping is known to me.

I provide Depthschapes for the Dooming procedure and in addition these are urgently the texts to extrude and then to cut .

In Alibre it is no Problem also in SWX. Alibre have also ACIS Kernel in Version 19 ViaCad has version 20 :D

I will upload an DXF File that can not extrude and Pictures
of form's i made.

I hope you can undestand what i will do

Thanks and regrads

not sure then - can you import from Alibre for the time being ?

it would be interesting to know why they are different !

Hello jol,

thats is what i mean i cant understand that Alibre with the Kernel V19
can do this an ViacadPro / Shark with the new Kernel V20 cant do it.

I'm very wondering

I can't help with the Draft problem, but it would be super if ViaCAD/Shark could perform the Extrude with Draft and output the resultant shape i.e. like a pitched-roof, rather than throw up an error message.

This would create some very interesting shapes and also give us the 3D centre-line between profiles and is just what I'm after for a particular application I have in mind. Your picture DSC00242.jpg show exactly what I'm after!

However, your problem seems to be connected with your use of Control Point Splines. If you Change Object Type to Polylines, you should have more success - it works OK here, but unfortunately the solids aren't very smooth.

The curves appear to be slightly out of plane. Try projecting all the curves into the same plane and it should work.

Hmmm. I added a roof tool in v8. It might be possible to modify the algorithm to work off a face for a new capping option???

I would find it very useful, Tim.
Simple shapes already seem to work sometimes, so I've included a short video of how I could use the ridge line for engraving text and other shapes that are almost impossible to machine in other ways.

I've skipped the processing in the CAM system and jumped straight to the g-code simulator, which shows how the 3D line from ViaCAD/Shark is used to control the depth of cut of a 90 deg inc angle cutter and thus control the overall shape of the part.

I'm very pleased with how the graphic output from the simulator mirrors the extruded part in ViaCAD.

Thanks for looking at this.

Martin.

Hello Tim

I get the data to the customer. Unfortunately I have very few options as to change that.

The curves are all on one level and must be extruded by 7.5 degrees with a draft.

When I use the data before all the transformation in lines I have an infinite number of surfaces.
These are not really smooth even after the milling. The CAM program processes
the surfaces EXAT as they come from the drawing.

As you can see from the images I create, among other things forming molds.

I hope that I would not now you made too much work and hassle me habe.Und
appreciate a solution.

ViaCAD Pro I use for all my projects and I am thrilled and satisfied.

If I still edit my client projects so I would like to
Shark FX update.

@Martin
I see you working with CNC and create forms.
Will you do that for toolmaking.

I am thinking about switching from ViacadPro on Shark FX for it is a
possibility to better and faster parts I've needed to change. this is
with a parametric CAD faster.

I've downloaded the demo and loved it. I have many great CAD programs
can test me and they were almost all too complicated. That's why I was looking for something simple and
I encountered by chance on ViaCAD Pro.

What sets you a CAM program for your projects?
You did, and which CNC machine

Since my English is not so good I ask to excuse this.

regards
DJ Bino
