Just purchased ViaCad (download), installed on my desktop PC without
any problems.

I figured it would run better on my laptop (PC too old and slow) so I uninstalled it on the PC and re-installed on the laptop.

The problem now is that I can't activate it.
I put in the authorization code but it won't accept it.

Also, it appears the serial number has changed.

Do I need to get another auth. code everytime I transfer the program from
one machine to another?

(the laptop is not connected to the internet, BTW).

Thanks.

Yes. You will need to register each machine you install ViaCAD on.

So I take it's $99 for each time I register?

Tim - I'm considering getting ViaCad to run on my OSX machine but that machine is not connected to the internet. I use it for production and have left it off.

Are you saying I need to have the machine connected to the internet just to register ViaCad so I can run it?

You need internet access to register. Once is registered, ViaCAD does not require internet access.

You have seven days to register the program, so you can register later, when you have Internet access. During those seven days the program is fully functional.

If you never have Internet access, please call technical support to manually register the product at

Thanks Tim....good to know I can call it in.

Lastly....how about the fillets and bevels? First class as in Concepts 3D or a stripped down version?

Fillet and chamfering are the same in ViaCAD as in Concepts 3D and Concepts Unlimited.

ViaCAD Filleting includes:
Constant Blending (radial, elliptical, vertex)
Variable Blending (linear, by position, radius curve, fixed width, hold lines)

ViaCAD Chamfering/Bevels include:
Constant Chamfers (length, two lengths, length angle, vertex)
Variable Chamfers (lengths, four lengths, lengths angle, by position, fixed width)

I am considering Viacad as a companion product to Sketchup. Your very prompt and direct responses to questions fielded is very impressive. This thread cleared up a few issues for me. Thank you.

The value for money aspect of Viacad is very impressive.

Yep, the program is the real deal - bought and downloaded it yesterday - I was hoping it wasn't going to be a toy or a heavily stripped-down version.

For $99 it's easily the best deal in 3D land and I have no hesitation on recommending it to anyone irregardless of what they do in 3D or which program they use.

Great job with it and much success!!

Be sure to get the 711 patch available from the Help:Current Version page. It provides support for importing SketchUp v6. 710 was sketchup v5. We do have future plans to support export and the 3D Ware House. (SketchUp is not supported on Vista because of SDK limits)
