Extruding Profile - Gap Error (#3438)

When extruding a profile, is there a way to see which lines have gaps that prevent the profile from extruding? Ashlar Vellum has the little red crosses on the intersections of the gaps that need to be filled, they are very helpful. In an elaborate profile it is very time consuming to check each intersection.

I agree with you, gaps should be clearly shown. An option in the dialog box "keep the gaps visible" would be useful to prevent the red cross from vanishing at the first clic...

When I've had a problem extruding a profile I find so often it's because part of the profile is off plane slightly. If you can't see a gap try selecting the profile and use the "project to plane" tool. This has worked for me very well. I find the best thing for making profiles is to work in 2D mode or set the snaps to "Work plane" while drawing the profile. I have also had some success selecting all the profile objects and using the "Join Curve" tool making the profile into one object. When I extrude a gear tooth profile that has hundreds of lines I've done it that way and made one tooth and then rotated the tooth to form the gear using booleans and so on. Chuck
