Remember the gripper location - each object? (#4227)

Is it possible for the gripper to remember exactly where it was on each object? I just want to be able to click on any object and the gripper is in the exact spot on the object where it was last time. Not necessarily in the objects center, but any custom coordinate that I placed it the last time no matter how many other objects I've used the gripper on since. Possible?

Does anyone have an idea if this is possible? I'm trying to rendering three different views of a collapsible kids stool. I want to be able to place the gripper on each pivot point (and there are several) so I can open/close/swivel the various assemblies at any random angle.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't look like it's possible? The only options appear to be "User Positioned" and "Center of Selected".
