Still having problems rotating wood grain textures (#2683)

Although I've looked over the manual multiple times, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to rotate the wood grain across whatever direction required. I have experimented with the texturespace menu, but when I adjust the X, Y or Z, all I get is a thin, stretched-out texture that just looks like "lines" and nothing natural. What I would like to be able to do, is to simply pick an axis point from which to rotate any texture to the desired direction. It seems like it should be an easy procedure. Thanks.

>>texturespace menu, but when I adjust the X, Y or Z, You might want to try the arbitrary plane texture space and change the normal vector. I also found setting the preview to "drawing" was great for tweaking the normal and seeing the impact while staying within the render dialog box. Tim

Thanks a bunch Tim! This is exactly what I've been looking for. There are so many options to pick from when using the advanced editing, that it's impossible to know exactly which one to use for any particular operation unless one is quite familiar with the definition of that particular function.

Yup. I find I use the Preview : Drawing to figure out how these settings impact the final image.
A couple of weeks ago I was playing around with procedural woods. These have more control than the texture based woods. With the procedure wood you can set a trunk direction.
Attached is a set of blocks I was playing around with. I did not change the trunk direction....

VERY impressive. working mostly with wood furniture design, it's imperative that I get grain direction right. Is the "procedural wood" something available within the program?

Yes, in the color shader I used "Simple Wood" vs a wrapped image. Wrapped image is using a texture bmp. Most of the drag/drop woods are of this type.
Attached is a block from V7 with this material attached.
