I want the Diameter dimension tool to display the hole's depth too.

e.g. 8 x 25

Seems pretty simple. How can I automatically get it to display this without typing it in manually?

Thanks.

Anybody? Seems like the diameter tool should be able to detect what the hole's depth is since it's taken directly off the 3d geometry.

So everybody has to manually add the drilling depth?

It seems as though an extra field could fix that problem.. Adding a " x Depth " after the .

Everything with a diameter isn't a hole. If it isn't a sphere, cylinder, cone base, lathe, or end-on ellipsoid, is it a hole feature, a cutout or a boolean subtraction? Is it a specified depth, or a through-hole? What face is the hole depth specified from? If it's an angled hole, which point on the face is the depth specified from? There's more complexity in the exceptions than the instances.

Understood Zumer your right.. I was hoping for an easier way than going back to constantly check the model for depth. I've been spoiled by this modern world of instant-gratification. :)

Can it be possible to have the app treat the hole as a solid to be filled and checked for CGs?

-- Fire some rays to check for "closeability"
-- Try to "fill" or solidify the "hole"
-- Assign a likely or relevant material
-- Draw noded or spline-like axes for the user to skew or realign
-- Run some permutations and present some to the user (number and quality limited by the CPU/RAM)
-- Collect user usage stats and report back to Tim for further refinement of tool

Even the high end CAD packages don't give you the depth. You have to add it to the diameter dimension.

One way around that is to take a section thru the hole, and throw a depth dimension on it... Now it's associative! ;)
