Can't shrink an item with Stretch Tool! (#2301)

Have a part that I CAN NOT shrink in the Z axis (or any axis for that matter) with the stretch tool. It has a thickness (bent sheet) so I cannot use the scale tool. Shouldn't the Stretch tool be able to do the reverse and Shrink?? Thanks Norbert

No shrink? Not even with a 'minus' sign?

Hi,
It will not take mouse input to shrink, but then again it is a stretch tool.
The only way I can currently see to do that, is to enter a minus value in the dist value at the top of the screen.(as mentioned by Tom)

That works. I have to stretch it first, THEN input a negative value to achieve a modification in the opposite direction. It really should be a stretch/squish/shrink tool... and interactive in the screen so you can use it more during design modifications quickly. Oh, and are there any Extra tools in the Shark Apps. that do these commands, or is it still just the Stretch tool? Thanks, Norbert

Such a tool would be welcome.

Not that I know of. (but have not played much with shark yet)
You should try using the scale "Differential", enter the value in the axis, then click on the model origin.

Steve only problem with that tool is that using differential also scales the thickness of my part accordingly which is something I do not want happening (there are several folds in it). Stretching is the ideal method in this case.

Hi Norbert
Can you use the face tools to offset/ move faces?

I used the Shrink tool with a (-) minus value (no mouse input). That worked, but still...

Yes, it's the same when using the extrude tool. You have to go forward before going backwards- using the minus sign. It's a bit silly, but no more silly than the same arrangement in Solidworks.
