Jol's long and very old nag list .. feel free to comment / add 1 - setting up perspective reliably 2 - display performance on Mac is still poor with complex models 3 - models get hoooooooje quickly and suddenly .. why ? 4 - 'associative duplicates' in the xxx-array tools doesn't work properly 5 - history links on deleted objects's parents should also be deleted (eg extrude from a profile .. delete extrude, profile still linked in history tree) 6 - branch solid tool - poked ! 7 - silhouette tool - works only under certain circumstances 8 - text attributes not in attributes tab 9 - deform tool fails too often .. particularly 'to curve' .. it's total rubbish ! 10 - some tools (eg deform) don't allow data updating in the 'topbar' .. in fact if you click on a cylinder for example, you get data boxes which stay (with inappropriate data) when you then click on a deform object. So many tools don't even show databoxes. eg: when you click back on a bent object 11 - curve bend tool soooo hard to use 12 - arc etc screen resolution awful 13 - updating program is a hassle .. needs managing 14 - there are no symbol samples any more .. why ? 15 - you can still open the same file twice .. this is potentially dangerous 16 - print dialog needs love (print window is total rubbish .. used to be fine !) 17 - grid must be centred to 0,0,0 .. why ? .. mostly you build in +ve xy space !! 18 - when flipping between 2 open models, view rotation point is still global .. needs saving with each model .. must be reset to ZERO on 'new drawing' ! I can't tell you how annoying this is !!! 19 - Prefs>display solid/surf new colour broken 20 - dynamic help files couldn't be presented worse .. no header, search or decent resolution diagrams. So many pages are totally broken. eg Solid +-=, region trim, patterns etc etc 21 - no easy output to Maxwell 22 - no curvature continuous rounding .. critical in modern product design

That is why you should never buy a piece of software unless you can get a demo first no matter how inexpensive it is. You pay for what you get!

Trying a demo, won't help anyone make a list like Jol's!
Years of exploration under the hood, there are...;)
Though I agree, all need adressing.

Thanks JL ! Apologies to anybody who's put off by my comments. I am a big fan of Concepts. As I know it intimately .. as well as knowing how great it is .. I know where it falls down. I have always made it my business to ask the hard questions. It's something I've always done with these guys .. and I genuinely think it's a much better product for it.

Hey Jol, Yep. Yep. There they all are, and truly someone without a lot of 3Dirt under his fingernails would not have arrived at this concise and accurate list. Nothing here is a killer, and I recommend CU all the time, but I too have this LIST (yours is more complete, so no need for redundancy). I'm not even really complaining (well...), as I know how development goes with a small staff and wicked complexity. But there it is. There's the list. wow. Nice job, Jol. Thanks.

And oh yeah to any new customer looking this over: Buy it! Like Jol, I love this thing. That's a great list though.

Super List, JOL! Yes, these are the main points that are really annoying to me! Though Id like to add another point that is working in other programes: -parametrisation and associtivity for lines, splines, arcs etc. Please! Concepts is such a great software! It hurts to not have these few points fixed! ALBANO

Associativity between complex lines (path lines for sweeps) is really needed. Associative fillets between 2d lines and robust, easy to edit controls for "polylines". I work with complex path lines (for sweeps and "pipes") every single day. The lack of this feature is what keeps me from using concepts as my main modeler. Also needs faster regeneration of sheet views. Sometimes this is VERY slow.

I guess Todd never passes your list on. Or perhaps the dev team just threw the list away because they obviously don't care or these things would have been fixed years ago. I am incredibly disappointed that neither Tim, nor Punch has cared to fix the basic things before adding more features in V5.

I to wish developers would understand how dearly users want: 1. longstanding bugs squashed 2. longstanding feature enhancements implemented new features are good but at what cost unhappy long time users? Gary

Well said Gary ! (Solid) new features are terrific .. but there must also be priority placed on loooong-standing bugs and workflow problem areas The issues are all very well documented right here on the forum ! The commercial necessities of getting V5 on the shelves must be tempered by some overdue and very necessary sureing-up of the fundamentals

Todd .. have these bugs been sent to the developers ? Are they being addressed in V5 ? Some of them I have had for years

The entire list in which Jol posted back in April, as well as all the bugs y'all have sent to me through the forum or via email has been reported in the bug tracker, as well as emailed directly to the Developers. I can assure y'all that the developers are aware of these issues and are prioritizing the lists to be addressed.
