Is there any way to bump up the DPI from 72 to 300 when I export to JPG in VIACAD 2D/3D???? If not, would exporting to AI format and then doing the JPG conversion in AI work?

Hello There's no way to up the resolution of the export and it really depends on what type of output you are trying to get out into a graphic format, 2D Dimensioned Drawings or 3D Shaded Models, as to whether exporting to an alternate file format will improve your results. Perhaps you could post a sample file and I'll take a look at some options for you? All the best Nick

If you need a shaded image then I'm afraid you may be out of luck, you could try either printing to .pdf or exporting as .ai but you will get a faceted result albeit at the higher resolution.

the model is a surfaced wireframe. tried both the pdf & ai routes. the resulting images looked like s--t.

It really needs 'rendering' ??

Only other possibility I can think of would be to screen grab / export .JPG of model in sections, so instead of zooming the model to fill entire screen, zoom in so that a 1/4 of the model fills the screen and then assemble your collage in Photoshop. All the best Nick

Why not render to file, then change the resolution in Photoshop or some other image editor. If your on a Mac you can even do this in Preview.

Hello Nick I think you might have missed the top post in thread, it's ViaCAD 2D/3D not Shark FX so no Render To File I'm afraid :( All the best Nick

I do this very often.
To me, a screen grab is always a better option than a render, even with Shark FX...

it's an interesting thought for Tim perhaps a high resolution jpg screen "grab" is something that could be simulated - I guess by misleading the program into believing it is sending info to a huge screen buffer - but instead sending it to a file to be output via jpg whether you are a VC or a Shark user, this could be an enormously useful working tool thoughts ?
