http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?t=3142 Quote: Hi All
Punch! Software was acquired by Encore Software a division of Navarre.
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/nav...k=MW_news_stmp I've been asked to lead Encore's software development efforts and look forward to continuing to work with everyone regarding improving the ViaCAD and Shark products.

Tim,
Could you outline how this might effect the current product line in the foreseeable future.
Does this mean that you might get more resources for a larger development team, and more quality control ? I think that was the hope that never quite materialized when you started working with Punch!.
All the best,
Nick

I hope this is a step in the right direction for ViaCAD and Shark. I've never been impressed with any Broderbund software and I hope that the Punch CAD products will be treated respectfully and developed into more powerful and capable products rather than watered down and cheapened.

>>I hope that the Punch CAD products will be treated respectfully and >>developed into more powerful and capable products rather than watered ViaCAD in particular has been doing very well for the company. I was excited to see it take top spot (by unit volume) in NPD last month for CAD. NPD tracks all retail sales in North America by category. Not by revenue though as AutoCAD LT remains king of the hill. I don't see a scenario that will make the products less capable then they are. We will continue to push on usability, stability, and productivity issues for the CAD products. Tim

Hey Tim, thanks for the response! If you're excited about this, then it must be a step in the right direction. Please forgive me if I sounded somewhat negative or less enthused. I do have two more questions, though: 1) With consideration for Shark and ViaCAD's advancement into the CAD industry and becoming much more serious competitors for much higher priced programs, is there a concern that having these products associated with brands such as Broderbund might make other potential customers less inclined to take a serious look at them for their businesses and applications? 2) What impact will this have, if any, on the upcoming release of V7?

Congratulations, Tim! (Is this why you've been quiet? :)... Got a LOT on your plate now. I hope you get the resources you need and want. Best!
