I was trying to import images into ViaCad 2d3d and ended up with 4 tiled part images. About an hour later after much frustration  I found a way to accomplish this should be routine task. Using MS Paint or Open Office draw I down sized the images to about 10" x 8 1/2" or 1050 x 820 pix. In MS Paint use the "strech skew tool" under images on the menu to get the size down. In Open Office Draw it is easier. Right click on the picture and click "position and size" from the drop down menu. With the "keep ratio" box clicked in the dialogue box type in the 10" or the 1050 depending on what you used and choose for the measure system in the same dialogue box. Export with ethier program the picture as an image file and you are done. It now can be imported into ViaCad under "File"/"import" from the main menu.

Hello You need to post a little more information for us to help you... What format were you trying to import into ViaCAD? How big were the images which failed? What resolution were the images? Which colour space were the images (RGB/CMYK)? What operating system are you using? Which release of ViaCAD are you using? All the best Nick

I use Xp/Viacad 2d 3d V6 Images I tried Bitmap, and Jpeg. Images that failed anything over 10" would begin to tile. Resolution made no difference. ie small resolution but picture over ten inches gave same problem. I was able to deal with my problem as I said in the original post. I hope this info may help others. Note that pictures once successfuly imported can be dragged once selected. To resize the picture it has to be selected and the "scale tool" used.

Hello Repeated your issue using Shark LT, Shark & Shark FX on Mac OS X too, can get up to an image of approximately 12 inches square before import fails. I will forward link to this thread to development team for their comments. All the best Nick

Nick,
attached some blank/white BMP (RGB) sample files in different sizes.
do a regen/selectall if nothing shows up after the import.
btw, SU imports 1024x1024 max.

Norbert

Hello Norbert
Only the 1024 x 1024 .BMP works for me. All other .BMPs import as a very elongated object as per enclosed screengrab.

Hi I'm new to punchcad Pro 11 and I'm really struggling I would like to be able to put a picture in the background so I can draw the side view of a set of simple stairs. when I try everything that you guys have spoken about all I end up with is a black screen in the background. I will try to attach a picture I'm using via card 11 . I originally purchased 9 3D2D I payed for this program twice . I'm using a Mac 10.15.5 and I have really struggled to get to a point where I can use via cad to do drawings putting a picture in the background , simply sketching the outside would speed things up greatly. I've tried as you suggested reducing the resolution I brought it down to 37kb .I have used preview to reduce the image size but I cannot get it into black-and-white I somehow think it should work regardless of that it must be something to do with permissions or something

Hi Brenthudson 2,
have You tried with different formats of a photo (jpg, png, bmp)? Maybe try to open your image on full screen (open with any software) and make a printscreen -remain file location on Your desktop. Open Your printscreen with pro 11. Let to know if it help?
