Suppose that you move a group of faces and pick two points that are 0.5" apart and the move face command fails. Now move the same group of faces but zoom in and choose tow points that are only 0.01" apart. The faces move. Type in 0.5" in the data box, and the faces move the half inch.

Moving the small distance first is a work around but a pain.

Hi Patrick,

Do you happen to have a sample file you can provide?

Thanks,

Its taken a while. Find attached 2 files. One is the CU file and the other is a PNG that shows the faces to move. If you move these faces .1" and then type in 2", they will move the 2". If you try to move them 2" from the top view using the mouse picking points, you get an error.
API attached the following image(s):
FaceMove.jpg (87kb) downloaded 5 time(s).

Also using just numeric input with the move face command doesn't work.
If You click on the face to move, fill in the move vector numerically then hit enter - nothing happens.
You have to first define the move by clicks and then modify to the exact numeric value.

This seems to be a minor annoyance but on complex models a move face command can take quite a while to execute.
Let's say it takes 20 secs. Modifying the numeric value will first set the move back to 0 (zero) and then change it to the new value, so the program will perform two more moves for the desired result, taking an additional 40 secs.
So 1min instead of 20 secs, see what I mean?

Ciao, Norbert

I posted a picture here and sent the file directly to Tim. (I couldn't upload the file) I haven't heard from Tim.
