What I would like to suggest is that rotating, panning etc. should be possible when the STL-dialoge is on. Today I had to export 10 different STL-files for rapid prototyping. To judge the model from all sides for the right resolution I had to reimport the files again.... ALBAN P.s.: Might it be possible that the quality of the mesh is influenced by selecting precise facets in the resolution menue?

The mesh formed from the STL dialogue seems to be exactly the same as the one formed from converting a solid to mesh in the 'Change Object Type' menu.

The default parameters for the stl mesh are defined by the display resolution settings which will also take into account whether precise facets is turned on or off. Is that what you are referring too? Tim

Hello Tim I think this is a very dangerous way of defining stl mesh quality as an end user could conceivably export a series of components thinking they were using all the same mesh settings but in fact some could have been set to fine, others to super fine and others to super fine with precise facets resulting in very different quality stl files. Would it not make more sense to either just change model to superfine with precise facets when exporting stl and then stl dialog parameters further define what resulting stl file looks like? or to allow for user to select quality in mesh / stl dialog too? All the best Nick

Tim,
was this ability only added to the mac version, or did you not implement? Or, am I missing some other STL dialog?
