This software aint cheap! But as a Mac user, there is COMSOL Multiphysics. It would be lovely if there was a basic solver in Shark

http://aaac.larc.nasa.gov/tsab/tetruss/mac/ It's free to U.S. Citizens by application.
Cosmos FlowWorks is $10k if I'm not mistaken.

Could any one suggest software that would provide solutions to problems like these? http://www.clag.org.uk/beam-annex3.html

http://www.opencfd.co.uk/openfoam/ free as in beer.
Sorry about the Tetruss, but can't have U.S. taxpayers supporting foreign users (which is why NASA can't let you use it.)

Sad thing is is that probably Kim Jong Il and company and other countries can get their hands on this stuff, and we have friendlier (officially or otherwise) NOT able to just ask for and receive this stuff. Kinda ironic/"interesting"

I'm pretty sure that NASA supports our International Space Station partners with such things, though I still doubt that just any entity, idividual or organization can get the software.
I'm pretty sure that when Kim Il Jong II and his ilk need software, they find a way to download the cracks off Bittorrent.

I once read about openfoam and installed a mac compile. it was really a pain and usability......
BUT wasnt it a good Idea to integrate such code in Shark? I think I would pay 1000-2000 more for a usable integrated feature like that!
Anybody else?
:-)

I'll raise my hand again. It only needs to be really basic. Just to demonstrate where to put more material in order to add strength- like on a chair, one of Jol's for eg, so an organic design can be optimised for both strength (thickness) and cost (minimum material amount in area needed to be strengthened). It would be a killer feature!
