Hi, is it possible to change the default light setting for rendering? I know you can add lights to get the effect you want but that takes time and when I render to file the image is a little too dark.

Hi Craig
Try changing the Intensity of the Ambient light of the scene using:
View : Ambient Light Settings : Intensity
For lighting, I've been using HDRI as it quickly creates a scene with good lighting. To increase light for a scene with HDRI, use Photo Realistic Render Settings : HDRI : HDRI Intensity.

Hi Tim, I had already tried changing the intensity of the ambient light but that setting only seems to apply to what you are seeing when modeling, it does not affect the render. The HDRI button on the render pallet just brings up the settings and when anything is changed in those settings, it does not affect the render or render to file buttons.

Hi Tim, I am running Shark on 3 different machines and on all of them the render settings change nothing. Additionally I cannot use the animation function because when I try to it says I do not have the QuickTime libraries installed. Would this also affect the rendering function and if so where are the libraries downloaded from?

You should be able to install quicktime from Apple, a possible link below:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ QuickTime only impacts the animation tools. Rendering is accomplished through some built in libraries.
>>and on all of them the render settings change nothing.
If you could post a small file, I might be able to make a quick video with some of the different rendering options.

I did eventually install the libraries and figured they were not related to the render as nothing changed after installing them. I have attached a simple file where I have changed the HDRI value to max but it has made no difference.
Perhaps there is another setting I am not activating?
