Hi all!

This is actually my first "work" as hobbiest, in ViaCAD to get familiar with the toolset. Nothing fancy but it was fun to model. Brought into EIM for .obj export and rendered in Shade 8.5 Std.

Regards
Stefan

Thanks, its actually quite simple. I used the Pathtracer option with 100 percent raytracing quality/noise reduction 1. Loaded a HDRI as lightprobe/spherical projection and adjusted the distant lights shadow settings to 50/50. The materials are standard materials except the metal colors, which i took 1 from a project included in the Shade 7 Designer LE Book.

I think I have Shade somewhere, I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks!

Thanks JL,

for me as hobbiest, im quite happy with the ViaCAD/Shade combination, the only think i hope that ViaCAD will get .obj export one day, so that i can omit the EIM translation route. I hope it will work for you aswell!

Regards
Stefan

Stefan,
You're right, none of the direct export CU / import Shades are working.
In Shades the result is a partial and deformed object.
I tried DXF 12, DXF 2007, IGS no option, IGS full options...

It's very similar to what I get when I export CU to Artlantis 4.5 (except with VRML1 with this specific soft).

--> Tim, do you know why are these shader softs so bad in importing ?

It's a pity, because shades shading is really nice and easy with its example files.

Sorry, I've been too quick.
Importing in Shades is failing when the CU file is including solid elements.
Converting solids to mesh (or surfaces in some cases) in CU before exporting DXF 2007 seems to work fine.
(Don't try with IGS, it crashes Shades, even with a simple block).

Good that you found a solution for importing, i had not so much luck with DXF R12 (errors in the mesh), thats why i choose the .SAT-> EIM/.obj route. Will try again with DXF2000.

Just figured out that im a dummy, because i forgot to convert the solids into a mesh before exporting, thats why i had an error in the Shade mesh...

Stefan

Shade is a modeling, animating and rendering program from e-frontier. I used it for rendering my ViaCAD model.
