I have an assembly of solid parts that I would like to get a sector cut out of so I can make a view looking in. I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I have tried using the solid subtract but since the assembly has many solids in it, it does not appear to be selectable.
I am using ViaCAD 3D 6.
Thanks for help.

I think you would create an Infinite Plane through the section you want, then right-click on the new infinite plane surface and select "Use as clip Plane".. You would then see only the section that is in the normal direction.

Thanks, the cut plane worked.

It looks like the solids are cut open empty shells and you see the inside surfaces. Is there a way to have them look solid?

Well I tried this cutting thru a solid object and a surface-created one.. and both attempts turned out to display open-shells.

The only other thing I can think of would be to use the "Split Solid" tool.. slicing the geometry in two with the infinite plane you created.. then delete, hide or place the unwanted half on another layer.. The face that was split will appear solid.
