I seem to recall once having the choice to retain the cutoff from a trim solid operation, am I imagining that? I'm trying to divide a solid into two parts with a line.

Thanks, I know I can use a surface to split a solid but I could swear we used to have the ability to split a solid in two and retain both haves with a simple line. Creating a surface simply to split a solid seems like a lot of extra work for a simple procedure, especially since a line works fine to trim already. Just need to option to keep the cutoff.

That's a good tip, thanks. What I need though is to be able to split a solid with a profile that is not planar. I've started duplicating the solid and the curve to split it with and running the operation once on one half and once again on the other. I honestly could swear there was a function to keep the trimmed part at one time.
