My OS is Windows 7 pro version 6.1 SP1 (64 bit)
I'm running Shark FX v7 SP1 and it crashes several times a day.
It installed cleanly, and opened without tweaking compatibility, however, the program began crashing daily, sometimes several times a day (often in the auto save cycle).
I've downloaded the FX v7 beta, it behaves slightly better, but it has crashed on me three times today alone.
What strategies do you suggest I employ to remedy this? It's getting a little frustrating.

Regards,

Craig

Updating your video drivers can sometimes help too.

Hi Craig

Does it crash if you turn off auto save ?

What folder are you saving to?

This morning I lost centre wheel zoom. It continues to work
in the beta.
I've turned off auto save, too soon to tell if the crashing is going to be a problem.
Files are saved to the DXF file. Auto save was saved to the backup file (by default). I also have a file labelled Saved DXF, for ease of sorting.
Windows is configured to update drivers automatically.
Moving back to 32bit operation is not a program I can sell.

Thanks everybody,

Craig.

The program seems stable with auto save toggled off.
I would like to be able to use the centre wheel of the mouse to zoom in and out again, however,
anyone have any ideas?
My IT guy solved the issue by changing mouse booting sequence.
Thanks everybody.

Punchdrunk,

Do you, or should i say, did you get a white flashing screen of death? Let me know if you figure any thing out please. I get that flashing screen when auto save is on as well as when it is off, had the same issue with 2d/3d v7 and 8, and pro v7, shark fx v7 retail and v-7 sp-1 beta. Least with auto-save i don't loose everything, i work too hard at getting anything drawn, perhaps i'll get better with the learning curve.

If the bug resurfaces, and if you want to try some new things with your mouse, then visit this page:

https://www.pcworld.com/download...wnloads/description.html

I installed FlyWheel because I need to be able to scroll my Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets which don't behave under win 7, vista and win 2k. It WILL make mice in AutoCAD behave a little differently than usual, but you can fine tune the FlyWheel settings.

If you share the machine with others, then, unfortuantely, they will probably not want the FlyWheel driver installer in their way. This utility is best for those who OWN the machine or who don't have to share it with others, considering how ms user profiles work -- or unless you know how to make installed apps useable to ONLY a specific user.

It's author probably would be grateful if you make a donation, but it appears to still be freely available from PCWorld (the only place i trust to obtain it...). The activation code is also at the same PCWorld URL.

=====

By the way, I don't think it has any adverse impact on my use of VCP. I've been using it since maybe 2009, when I was initially using VC 2D/3D, and cannot recall any issues.

Enjoy!

Yes, the white screen of death resurfaces from time to time. It's just like blade runner in here when it happens........
So far, my supervisor and I think it's a video card issue. I'm going to do some more research and if I find anything I'll post it.

ZeroLengthCurve,

I'll check out that link,

Thanks and Regards,

Craig.

Craig,

Sorry you get it also, but at least i'm not the only one. I had thought v-card issues also, but i'm well above specs for punch and latest drivers did not help.
