Hi All,

I'm trying to emboss a pattern on a cup but every time I try to shell the final solid I get a 'bad curvature, unable to shell' message.

I create the pattern to be embossed as separate solids, pushed into the main body solid, then add all the solids together and try to shell the single piece at 1mm offset.

I've tried every solution I can possibly think of and am still having no luck.

If anyone has ideas it would be a huge help!

My instinct is that you would need to union (add) the detail AFTER the shell as it is very fine (small).

I think I'm right in saying that as a rule, you can't shell a body with detail smaller than the shell thickness (.. or something like that)

Hoping that helps

PS. I see you're in London .. Nick J. is probably the right person to help you - he's very knowledgeable and always quick to respond

Hello darkstarh,

Your model looks fairly simple. If you are bot too fussed about the embossed detail coming thru on the shell, I would suppress or add this later to the shelled part.

Can you post a ViaCAD file or ACIS solid for us to look at ?
