Hi All,

Apple has announced an early release of Friday for Snow Leopard.

We are hustling up new installers for all of our Mac CAD products to be compatible with Snow Leopard. The current installers are NOT compatible. We are currently testing new installers.

If you are planning on switching over to Snow Leopard I would highly recommend you consider installing the OS on a new partition and migrate cautiously.

Regards

Tim

Tim,
I am still using CU V4 SP4 and was intending to upgrade to Shark V6 when it is released. Will you be testing / updating installers for 'legacy' versions of the app, or only for the currently shipping version ?
Shark FX 9 build 1143
OS X 9.5
3.6 GHz Core i7, 8GB, GTX 760 2GB

Hi Nick,

We are only updating current product installers.

I am also creating a quick time movie showing how to get older installers to work. These same steps work for the Concepts installer as well.

(I launched CU, it appears to be fine under SL)

I can't wait to get Vc up and running on Snow Leopard

This too may come as a nice surprise to all you Tiger users also;

Quote:
Wall Street Journal technology correspondent, Walt Mossberg, is claiming that Snow Leopard will install on Macs running the previous Tiger OS without requiring installation of Leopard, contrary to Apple™s previous claims.
For owners of Intel-based Macs who are still using the older Tiger version of the Mac OS, Apple is officially making Mac OS X Snow Leopard available only in a boxed set that includes other software and costs $169, Mossberg explains.

Good news especially for rendering, though OpenGL performance is off a bit. I assume that drivers need some tweaking.

Generally a performance boost, and a worthwhile upgrade if all of your apps are compliant.

I've decided I'm going to leave the upgrade for a couple of months just to be on the safe side. Apparently CS3 doesn't play to well with 10.6 (but then again when has Adobe played very well in anything Mac in the last 10 years? Perhaps I'll start using that GIMP again? ;) )

My general SL experiences

I upgraded yesterday to SL .. I think there must have been something wrong with my previous system as this one just flies

It could be that it's relieved lots of hard disk space and that's given the new system more wiggle room than the old one had

I had to update Rapidweaver to 4.3 and Cyberduck to 3.3 to get them working

.. I haven't had any problems with CS3 on SL .. other than it's slow to load and a total memory pig (but what's new ?). I look forward to the day somebody shits all over Adobe for their expensive legacy $ trap. Hell, even Preview does the basics quicker and it loads instantly and it's free !

Also, if you want to run PPC apps, you'll need the now optional Rosetta install

There's absolutely nothing new in SL .. but boy does it run fast .. I couldn't be happier here !

Well put Jol. I too now refuse to have anything to do with reader/ acrobat. I've been using Preview now for over 2 or so years, with no regrets whatsoever :D:D

Can I sign the petition to shit on Adobe's head too?

I'm pretty sure with the proper diet, my donation would be effervescent and HDR, to take full advantage of Adobe 1998 colorspace.

If anyone sees a problem with Snow Leopard please shout out ASAP.

We've been testing and preparing for an update for all the CAD products (mac & pc).

I don't know if this has been covered, I did search the forum for an answer: viewball disappeared. Also, might there be an issue because I just upgraded to Snow Leopard?
Thank you
