Every time I convert a model to sheet, the line weight for the 2D views is 0.50, which looks thick when printed. I have to select the objects in the view and change the line weight to 1 pixel. Is there a way to set 1 pixel line weight as a default?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi bill

I would stick to weights vs pixels for printing.
Create custom line styles with thickness you want for each line type
Then when doing model to sheet assign the custom lines you defined and they will stay as default on that drawing no matter if views are regenerated

I totally agree with you Bill.
It is stupid to have 0.50 mm thick line default. This is ugly and unusable. (Maybe another metric unit error here because it's much thicker than 0.5...)
I know there is a way to create custom lines, but it has to be done on every machine and may disappear with updates.
Why can't we have 1 pixel default to make it universal ?

How about I add two new line styles called "Thin" and "Thick".

Thin will be 1 pixel wide and black.
Thick will be 2 pixels wide and black.

Thoughts?

What happened to the user picking his or hers own line weights?

You still do that. These two are just added to the previous set of line styles.

because it is no a paint program but a CAD which should use line styles according to standards as e.g. the ISO 128-2x:

line group 0.25: 0.25/0.18/0.13
line group 0.35: 0.35/0.25/0.18
line group 0.5*: 0.5/0.35/0.25
line group 0.7*: 0.7/0.5/0.35
line group 1.0 : 1.0/0.7/0.5
* preference group

Why not just use 0.25 as preset (as e.g. in AC/Inventor too) which schould lead to a fairly thin display output (i.e. 1 pixel) on common displays?

Tim when I do a model to sheet I use the pen style's visible, hidden, and tangent with "use object color". Where do I go to change the defaults for pen weights and the line type scale for this scenario.

Hi David
Go to "Inspector Default settings" menu. Next pick on "Pen Properties" then pick the down arrow and pick "New". Set up a style you want(color, Line weight, etc and name it (Trial).

Now when in the model to sheet menu, the name your gave your style will appear in the pen styles (Trial). For visible pick "Trail" for example. If you already created 3D objects in another style just click your style (Trial) and that will be used in the sheet views.

If you already have sheet views with work done on it and want to make changes right click off the geometry but within the view and click properties. What shows up is the "Model to sheet" menu. Make changes needed and pick your style (Trial) if wanted.

When creating your 3D images you can set "Trial" as the pen style first and then create your objects. In this case the Trial style will appear by default in model to sheet dialogue when generating sheet views.

Using "object color" in both visible and hidden boxes of the model to sheet dialogue will make all colors the same. I don't think that's what you want.
Best solution for me is to make (Line) styles and use them. Making and working with line styles and getting comfortable with this part of the programs is definitely time well spent.
Good Luck

Using "the object color" makes lines the color of the solid and that's what I want because I use hundreds of solids in my ass'y drawings, which I export to my customers and if they have to make any changes to the drawings in future the lines won't be all the same color. All I want to do is set the line weight and line scale for the object color setting.
