Something I just re-viewed or played with after a long absence is turning on the view ball and multiple viewports. Then, in one view port, I turned on the dynamic rotate. Which is leading me to an idea to suggest....

Would it be CPU/RAM-unfriendly to make dynamic rotation possible in one view port while still working on the object in one of the other view ports?

It may be the case that the dynamically-rotating view needs to 'stutter' or pause if a line or some geometry is being placed, or maybe a graceful degradation or slow down of the VP could be workable.

Or, is it possible to have different view ports shade or render independent of the model in the main view port? Delftship and Freeship are lightweight apps of about 14MB in kernel size maybe less, and in each of the 4 viewports, the user can independently set each for wireframe or shaded, and various modes (Wireframe/Shaded/Gaussian Curvature/Zebra Shading/Developability Check) as well as various views (Bodyplan/Profile/Plan View/Perspective).

Yet, ANOTHER egg-on-own-face moment...

Last night, when playing with "add viewport", I learned that I can indeed shade or wire-frame and "shade-now" effect the viewports I added and dragged off to my 2nd display.

VERY NICE FEATURE, Tim!

This should be further highlighted in the FAQ book you're producing. People with 2 or 3 displays will probably exploit it very well, but those needing a convincing to buy a 2nd or additional display will love this feature. It makes my already-useful 2nd display even MORE useful. It might even drive more sales of portable displays sold for laptop users...

I would feel a bit guilty using one of these sitting in a coffee shop, but travelers using CAD heavily may want one if sitting a while in an airport in a private members area. If traveling to someone's facility or office, this would be useful when discussing plans or drawings and rendering while editing... No need to fuss with other parties' projectors or tempermental LCDs or CRTs....
