WOW, thanks to the v8 upgrade features (specifically, the vid/tut showing moving holes around in a phone case modeling demo), I finally got around to checking for the ability to create in solid plating one or more holes I could move around freely and have the holes or ovals remain intact.

This is very useful and even fun for me because ship tank tops and support structure will. Have holes called lightening holes because, well, their presence means the lightening of steel structure through discarding material not needed. The holes are reinforced with flanges to make up for the removed material's contribution to strength.

So, in my inner bottom, i created baffels and structure. I created ovals as surfaces and then cut the solids with them using the Split Solid tool. To my pleasure, moving the flange does not require reconstruction or arrays of tubes to cut openings. This will be an immense time saver.

Yes, i am in v8 of Shark LT.
