Hi all,

me again, at the lower end of the learning curve...

I'm coming from Vectorworks 2011 and obviously it's a bit different.

I prefer drawing rectangles as "one piece" as it's more convenient to edit them if I need to. But I realized that I seem to be unable to trim a rectangle against another overlapping line / circle etc. I'm able to select the circle as "the object to trim against", but when I want to click the rectangle as "the part to be deleted" it's just not selected / nothing happens.

If I go to (assumed translation from my german version) modify - change object type and make the rectangle into lines, it can be trimmed. Do I really have to do that ? every time ? Thats rather odd / inconvenient.

Thx for any hint or confirmation

No you don't have to as there is an option to draw rectangles as individual lines.

thx a lot Jason,

I'm aware of that choice, I just find it more convenient to draw rectangles, e.g. they stay together and I can easily adjust their size... as I said I'm coming from vectorworks were rectangles can be trimmed like any other object. Guess I'll have to change my habits or redraw rectangles instead of adjusting them... :-/
In the meantime I realized that I can select one line of a "line rectangle" , then "select chain", then "show points" and then it is scalable almost like a rectangle with 8 handles in Vectorworks :-)
