1. Is it possible to makemthe geipper extrude or move a face but keep a body anchored? 2. Howmcan I use the Gripper or Move Face tool move a face without ACISmcomplaining that it cannot perform the operation? Situation: I have a wing tank in the hull of my model. I want to - without creating multiple solids - pushnand pull a face tomchange the volume. However, i do not want Gripper scaling or letting ACIS say, "no solution for a vertex:Offset Face_9672935" I created a solid from stitched surfaces. I will try later using one of the manipulable solids, but, on rotation, the control handles claim to be visible, but are nowhere to be seen. On a GOOD note, if i use a negative value, thentank top lowers, without error or complaint. So, i suppose i can design the maximum heigtht, then make downward modifications. :-)

won't offsetting work? Maybe post a file to take a whack at it.

Use either the Push/Pull tool if you want a simple translation or the deep select if you want rotations as well. This was new in v8

Some thing similar to use deep selection tool whit the gripper enable, that allow you to move, push pull tool specific faces on a solid? Luis G

It seems that in VCP 7 (967), translation insists on moving the whold body, despite the face selected was by deep selection. Offset Dace, however, works nicely. Thanks for reminding me. Also, Move Face works nicely, too. I think these two tools are greay, but feel that as separate tools, they can be too easily overlooked. I feel they would be more appreciated and used more if they announced themselves in ordinary select operations. They are too useful to allow to be forgotten. I next will explore what i am doing incorrectly that is not keeping my dimensions associative. Probably something simple like moving the control points along with the face move/offset action.

Thanks, Bill!
I had been away from SLT v8 for so long that I had forgotten to explore the tools more. I put using it on hold months ago because of issues importing .dxf meshes (3d polylines were okay, but not the meshes, not importing), .stl, and .igs not importing. But, now that I do not need .stl and .igs, and since .dxf meshes appear to be importing fine now for me, I decided to tweak my shortcuts. Now that I see the Push/Pull tool, I regret not finding and testing it around 7 months ago.
Cheers!
