Strange sounds in Shark FX

I've made a part consisting of about 30 small circles lathed 360 around a line to form a table fan's grille. Now when I turn on the layer that this part is on, whenever I click or rotate with the mouse, or do pretty much anything with the mouse, including the action of turning on its layer, I get a strange low pitched chime or gong sound. When I turn off that particular layer, no sound, and all the other layers are "quiet". It seems that these sounds are error sounds, as if there were something wrong with the part... but I don't know what. It's pretty annoying so I'd appreciate some help and words of wisdom : )
