Just purchased ViaCad Pro 9 for Mac and tried to export a simple test file but was unable to get anything besides printing to PDF working...

this is what i did:
created new file, created a 50mm x 50mm box and then exported as Adobe Illustrator (.ai)... but when I tried to import into Inkscape it failed to load. Tried opening in iDraw and its just blank.

then tried to export as new version DXF, but imports blank into Inkscape...

then tried to export as EPS which seems to work in iDraw but the shape dimensions are off... (51.163 mm!)

Can anyone shed any light on this? Am I missing something? TIA!

I use Inkscape for my testing of AI. While in Inkscape, use Import : "Adobe Illustrator 8 and Older". AI 8 and earlier file formats are based on eps whereas 9 and above use a variation of pdf.

I've never tested DXF with Inkscape. To test DXF, I test with AutoCAD. We default to DXF 12, Inscape might be version specific, not sure.
