I use ViaCAD 2D/3D as well as ViaCAD Pro. I am addicted to (and love) these programs.
I am 100% opposed to software piracy. The work that goes into the programs is incredible, and somehow people think they have a right to steal them.
Based on the above paragraph, I understand why companies (or individuals) want to try to protect their hard work from thieves. However, for those of us who have purchased legal/legitimate licenses, it frustrates me to no end that if I change a hard-drive (or whatever piece of hardware) that I have to contact the company to get the software to work again. If there is a delay, my work is also delayed.
Many years ago, I complained to a company about the need to contact same company for future installations of some software I had purchased if I upgrade my computer, buy a new one etc. (NOT ViaCAD). I said I worried about what I would do if the company "disappeared" for any reason. They (politely) told me that my concerns were not warranted. The company no longer exists. Guess where that now leaves me.
Anyway, I needed to vent a bit. I don't know what the solution may be, but I am concerned about the dreaded "fingerprint error" or anything that is going to cause a delay in my ability to run a program for which I have purchased a legitimate license.
Thanks for listening...I sure wish I could provide a workable solution...
