How do I rejoin a solid after removing a slice?

I have a solid drawn which is basically a rectangular block with several holes and cutouts in different faces. I now want to reduce it's height so I have taken a slice from the centre by inserting a block and then removing it with the subtract tool. How can I joint the 2 parts back together as they are still show as the same part, i.e when I click on one part both are selected?

Try using Edit : Change Object Type Solid. This will make each solid region after the subtract a separate solid that can be moved. Tim
