I just purchased ViaCAD 2D/3D for Mac from Amazon.com as a downloadable product. I know it is (or should be) legitimate as it was fulfilled by "Amazon Digital Services", as opposed to many third-party listings for the physical product which I ignored as questionable. if you don't believe me, this is the link to the product page I used -- note that Amazon is the only seller available:
http://amzn.com/B008964XB4[Yes, i realize V8 is one version old, but it should work for my purposes, which is to get my feet wet.]
I followed Amazon's instructions for downloading ViaCAD, launched the installer as soon as it finished downloading, and used Copy/Paste to make sure I entered the correct Activation Key when first prompted after first launching ViaCAD. I was told that the Activation Key was invalid.
Repeated attempts to launch ViaCAD result in a different registration screen which does not ask for the Activation Key, but instead says to click "Register" to be taken to a registration website. However, the "Register" button is greyed out. And I can't seem to get the initial Activation screen (the one with the different brand logos across the top) again.
To add insult to injury, the "Help" button loads a page that includes an email address for tech support. An attempt to email tech support resulted in an email from my ISP's email server stating that the attempts to send the email was aborted after "6 seconds".
I did finally submit an "Online Support Request", but it says I have to wait "up to 48 hours".. kind of disappointing when I might need to try to fight with Amazon over them selling an invalid Activation Key. Have I done something wrong in this process?
