It would be nice to have a numerical indication displaying the relative magnification of the instant display (have I missed finding it?). i.e, always displaying the current relative 'zoom scale' of the view menu For example it might display 1.00 when 1.00 inch or cm displays as 1.00 inch or cm on a reference sized display or window. Then when zooming in 100:1 it would display 0.00100 for example and 100 when zooming out. When relatively zooming in and out I often check the direction arrows of the gripper to roughly indicate my zoom setting, until I update the gripper (small, medium, large). Displaying grid could be used. The zoom value could conveniently be displayed up by the x=..., y=...z=.... values.
