I use ViaCAD Pro 9 now so much with my daily work in the machine shop. The only reason not to upgrade would be compatibility issues between ViaCAD Pro 9 and El Capitan. (I don't really care that much about my other applications)

UPGRADE? Wait? Don't upgrade?

We still have some outstanding issues with El Capitan that we have not been able to come up with a fix yet. As soon as we do, we will send out updates.

Hope those fixes come soon, as I haven't upgraded yet because of the seen issues. With the bug fix reputation of Encore, I guess I check again in half a year. Annoying, as Notes will not sync now from my iPhone to my Mac.

Any idea if we have to wait as long as usual? From what I have been reading from Tim, you guys have not been taking the opportunity to get your software ready for El Capitan, by installing Developer versions and still hadn't install El Capitan on a machine days after its official release.

This message is not intended to bash Encore nor its employees, but I am just lost why it doesn't seem to care to fix its bug really as soon as possible. I can't understand this of a professional software developing company, with paying customers, who depend on the software.

That's a tad harsh buddy, I can feel your frustration, but Apple never release full versions all at once they are incremental, which is a developers nightmare, and these guys are supporting a couple of platforms too. I think El Capitan has revised the core drawing stuff, which must be the spanner in the works re CAD packages, and although the guys on the team could have a development Apple desktop, I've no idea what their revenue split is for this platform over their others..

I am slightly pissed with the snapping bug the slow saves, but I can work around the first one, by using Quit & Open, so in the grand scheme of things it's an inconvenience not a full blown emergency. Tim has always been sharp on the SharkFX side of things, and his betas are generally solid.
Keep up the bug fixes, Tim, I won't be jumping ship, and I can wait.
Can we have some more Reverse Engineering scan tools in the future please. :)

ViaCAD installed on your machine should have nothing to do with your iPhone. It might be an Apple issue with El Capitan.

I know Apple has sent out several service packs to address issues. I think even guys like Microsoft are having a few >issues <with this release.

As soon as we get either corrections from Apple or re write our code, I would not recommend upgrading to El Capitan yet.

>Macrumors< has a good thread going with apps that are working and not working if you are thinking of upgrading.

Notes does sync from iPhone to my iMac, and vice versa. You have to log out of iCloud and log back in once, and that's all done with the El Capitan install when you open Notes AFAIK.

Tonight I added a correction for zoom (green button in upper left). Apple changed the behavior of this button in 10.11 from previous versions.

This will be in the next beta build 1177.

After this, I believe I'm caught up for reported issues with El Captian.

So, is this an ALL CLEAR that is is safe to go ahead and upgrade to El Capitan?

In App Store, It says in description "UPDATES FOR IMPROVED SUPPORT OF EL CAPITAN". (encouraging to see this)

So TIm, do you think I can safely upgrade? or are there still issues? I'd be in deep water if I can't use ViaCAD Pro 9.

Thanks!!

I see on the app store that ViaCAD Pro 9 is on special now for $159.99 (wow, good deal). I'll have to spread the good news. I was hoping for a special for Shark, but didn't see one. Still waiting.

Yes, it looks safe to upgrade with the app store version or anything based on 1182 or above. 1183 is available via beta download page. I'm currently working on 1184.
