I'm having issues with the Push/Pull function. Sometimes the program will not allow me to pull certain parts of a drawing, I check for gaps in the lines, etc but can't find any. I go so far as inserting a circle in the drawing and the program won't even allow me to Push or Pull the circle into a cylinder. Any ideas.

Drop the push/pull tool and use the normal selection tool to select all of the curves that make up your shape, then use the push/pull tool again, if the curves are highlighted it should work.

I am only able to push/pull certain objects in the drawing. I drew a small circle in the middle of my drawing, I can't push or pull it.

try to set the workplane to your circle: menu WorkPlane -> Select Objects

I just tried that, it didn't help. I am getting so frustrated with this push/pull. I just did a new drawing with lines, splines, curve and all. Parts of it will push/pull, others will not. Added a circle, set the work plane to the circle, nothing.

I just went thru this exact thing and spent 3 hours figuring what was causing it for me:

What is happening is that the circle or square is not aligned with the workplane or the object perfectly. For example if I draw my circle on a cube in top view-- the circle looks like it is on top but actually it was drawn at 0 z axis. When I set the z axis to the top of the cube then I can grab and push / pull. This is hard for me becuase I am not sure how to always get the lines on the correct side of the cube versus my workplane.

I'm thinking that is my problem but I am not sure how I go about fixing the problem. I am not that familiar to using or changing workplanes. Can anyone explain that to me. Thanks

Can you post an example with just the geometry that is not behaving as expected?

When you post a reply there is an Options section in the lower left corner with a check box for "Attach files to this post". If the file is more than 5 megs, zip it first.

Here is the file. The two sets of numbers "33" will not push/pull. The Panthers logo will not push/pull and part of the zero in the "50" number will not push/pull.

Attached is an image where some of the gaps in the 33 are. Gaps are red squares in image. You will need to repair these gaps in order to extrude into a solid. However, after repairing I'm still seeing something with push/pull that I need to look into further.

I corrected a limit with the number of curves you can push/pull in the next build. After repairing the gaps, I was able to push pull each region. See attached.

I repaired the gaps in the 4 number 3's but still can't push/pull. When I make a new drawing and something won't push/pull the first thing I look for are gaps. I use the Edit> Select chain function, is that the best function to use or is there a better one. Also, if I am having a problem with push/pull and I add a circle to my drawing just to check the push/pull function and it does not work it seems like there is another problem rather than just gaps.

Yes, there was an internal limit to the number of curves the push/pull would examine. This is corrected in 1186 builds.

As a work around, hide some of the curves to get it below 300 displayed curves limit (which is displayed in the prompt).

Hi Tim,

Not sure if it's appropriate to post here re/ TurboCAD Pro v. 9, but as the program is pretty much identical to PunchCAD I thought I'd give it a try, as there is no developer presence on the TurboCAD User Forum...

Anyways, I recently upgraded to v. 9 and noticing a few issues that seems to have gotten worse since v.8 - one of them is the Push/Pull tool.

Selecting “Push/Pull” tool gets beachball for 8-10 seconds before able to do anything. Any movement of the mouse gives beachball again. Moving a surface results in very jagged movement, matching surfaces are not indicated and due to the jerky movement cannot be matched up, essentially making the tool useless. Even unselecting the tool gives the beachball for 10 sec.

After reading your replies here I hid some objects from view with the result that the beach balling was reduced as well as the jaggy motion, finally enabling me to match up some surfaces.

BTW, related to the Push/Pull tool; Window > Snaps > “Face On” and Inspector > Gripper > “Face Snapping” becomes undone (unchecked) on each and every program restart. Is this intentional?

Will we see a build 1186 for TCMP9 as well?

Cheers,

Mats Olofsson

Hi Mats

>>Selecting “Push/Pull” tool gets beachball for 8-10 seconds before able to do anything.

At the beginning of the tool we go out and process all the potential regions that can be push/pulled. It first finds all the curves in the workplane and then finds those curves that form closed regions. If you have a large number of curves displayed, this can take bit. However, 8 to 10 seconds is a long time and looks like we need to optimize this better.

No. I recently added Planar to launch. I'll add Face Snapping into 1186 as well.

>>Will we see a build 1186 for TCMP9 as well?
I'll bring it up at our Wed meeting.
