The Inspector is the place to control Dimension Properties.
I'm not sure about the witness lines, but this is the place to start.

Hi L.Banasky thanks for your reply.
I try to keep all my dimensions the same length see attached
Can I create my owner dimension arrow?

I don't know if you can create your own, but there are plenty to choose from.

Thanks L.Banasky for your help. Thats pretty much made up my mind about the program, it's great in some areas just lacks that little bit extra control that "I" like, it's close to what I wanted, but just not quite there yet. I not sure if I'll continue with it at this stage Thanks 18 years experience in the Building Design & Drafting Architectural. I use Autosketch " Old Drafix" with House Rocket 18 Years. I am not sure there was anymore control in auto sketch . Maybe you can explain what you want to control and we can help you.

Yes manually each time but I'm talking about automatically for rows of dimensions see attached

Hi
Trendstyle Design The problem as I see it is your selection of the endpoint for your dimension.
If you look at this picture, if I click on the endpoints of the line at the bottom I get long witness lines, but if I click on the bottom and drag up to a common intersect position they are all maintained the same...so you need to maintain a consistent reference position for your dims, essentially translating the vertical drops into a horizontal equivalent, by plotting the intersections.
I hope this makes sense, but I did this sketch with no mods to tolerances or otherwise.
Using SharkFX, but it should be the same in ViaCAD
Mike
PS Is this your normal drawing style? I only ask, and not being rude, as it looks a tad "cluttered" to me, but I'm no architect. :)

Hi again,
Trendstyle Design ,
OK, I played with the tolerances and values, and this is pretty clean, and I think follows what you're trying to do with the annotated picture.
Settings as per boxes, and I thought the DIN setting seemed cleaner than ANSI
Hope this helps, but I learnt something from your query, so thanks for the question. :)
Mike

Hi Mike Thanks for your imput.
Yes this is pretty much it. The one I have shown as an example is from the building company I'm doing work for. But they are all very similar through out WA.
We don't use large format prints that often (Mainly because the Local shires & Builders prefer A3 size sheets) Some even specifically requesting the smaller format. So this means Cramped Cluttered Drawings with notes wherever you can fit them and lots of sheets. This is why I need to keep the Witness lines at a set distance :-).
Thanks again Joe
PS I agree about them being cluttered.

Hi there
On the version I am using there are some additional settings in the standards manager that may be useful.
Hope this helps

Hi Trendstyle Design . Did my workaround not work? I was able to get the witness lines were a lot shorter, and I did away with the very long ones too by creating intersection points. for the dimension start & end positions. Mike

That will work but it will take too long. I'll keep testing it for a better way.
thanks
Joe
