Hello I've been trying to design vase types with flat surfaces for 3D printing and although I've set the resolution on my model to a "superfine" setting I'm still resulting with a mulifacatted surface instead of a smooth surface as desired. Is this smooth cylindrical surface achievable? And if so...how? I would appreciated any and all help on these matters.

Hi, you set the resolution when you export to stl for your 3d printer. I normally put 1 mm as edge length value, then hit the update button and then export. Claus

You do not need to hollow the objects body when you want to print it in 3D. Every slicer-program (I'm using Simplify3D) has the "vase" or "spiral"-mode. This will say, your print is execute with only 1 perimeter (real diameter = 1 x ExtrusionWidth) and the number of BottomLayers you have choosen. Otherwise you can set as follow: Perimeter = 1 BottomLayer = 5 to 8 e.g. Infill = no TopLayer = no This solution is better to print, because a given wall has always 2 sides, an outerside and an innerside. And the diameter of this wall is minimum twice the "ExtrusionWidth". best regards Horst, GER

Horst, if you are referring to my answer, edge length is just the size of the edge of the triangles exported, nothing to do with wall thickness. Claus
