Has anyone had any problems similar to this. Imported this this file (aircraft rib -see my earlier post) and then wanted to use a cylinder to do a surface trim. Not sure if this is the correct method. But I would get these strange effects. Using Shark LT v8 (no update builds, just re-installed Lt after not using it for about 3-4 years). Have a Intel i7, 16 GB. RAM, GTX-970 4 GB. video ram and Windows 10 x64. Attached two pictures.

Hi Ken

Is this your first use of V8 on Windows 10? I believe we made some changes to LogiCursor in V9 in order to support some Microsoft changes within Windows 10.

Hi Tim, yes it is the first time since installing Windows 10. I will look into upgrading to v9.

I had this issue on V8 with Windows 10. It was due to windows choosing to use the onboard graphics chipset rather than using my graphics card. It was easily solved by opening the NVIDIA Control Panel.

1. Type “Nvidia control panel” into the Search field at the bottom leaft of your screen and select NVIDIA Control Panel when it pops up.

2. Click “Manage 3D Settings” from the options on the left.

3. Select "ViaCAD" under "Select a program to customize".

NOTE: If you do not see "ViaCAD", it may be necessary to uncheck 'Show only programs found on this computer' which will then populate the list with the desired options.

If "ViaCAD" is not available, you may have to browse for it under the "Add" function.

4. Select your NVidia graphics card under "preferred graphics processor" instead of the default “auto-select”.

5. Solved!

Another thing you might want to do is allocate more memory for ViaCAD if you are using a 64 bit machine. ViaCAD is still a 32 bit program on all Windows systems. As such, it gets allocated only 2GB of memory. Look for a patch that gives 32 bit programs access to 4GB of memory. This was helpful when I was converting large meshes to solids. I found one here:

I used it to patch my legacy CAM program as well.
