I switched to Windows 10 some weeks ago. Now I need to convert some CAD-Data from STEP to OBJ. I used to do it with VIA CAD pro v8. Today I tried to install it, but had no luck with registring the programm. It runs in trial mode, but whenever I try to register/authorize it crashes. Tried some win-compatibility-settings with no luck. Hard to accept, that I can't use the program because of the registration not working ...

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you guys and gals!

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang

I would suggest you contact Encore tech support for any registration problems. Encore adds the registration DRM to ViaCAD.

Just made a support-request.

They have an info on their support-FAQ about Win10-compatibility saying only V9 pro is compatible. Maybe they have some additional info/ideas, but I do not expect too much.

Anyways – thank you for your advice, Tim!

Microsoft changed the behavior of OpenGL and the Window manager which made v8 LogiCursor display garbage on the screen while you moved your cursor. So we updated logicursor in v9 for Win10.

I think someone posted a work around, but I have not confirmed.

I have VCP 8 build 1016 on an Atom tablet that I shifted to Win 10 (the best thing about it IMO is the handwriting recog on a tab that doesn't have active stylus). It was installed and registered before the OS change but it's not giving me any grief. Runs fine, logicursor doesn't look to be different to Win 8 behaviour. Perhaps because it was already on the tab?

*Edges of objects look ragged compared to VCP 9 on Win 8 on another one of my toys, same size and resolution.

that's the tablet, I think. It's an old Acer that had a notoriously rubbish screen.

Hey Tim, hey murray,

thank you for your input. Support helped me with supplying a manually generated activation code. The program now starts without crashing.
Played a bit with it and it crashed only once while using it. I did not notice anything bad about the LogiCursor. It crashes regularly when using "Help > Current Version" though. But if that is it, I can live with that – at least for a while ... =).

Thanks again guys!

Wolfgang
