I need to know if ViaCad V9 is compatible with Windows 10. I saw where the tech support mentioned V9 Pro, but not the consumer version. Does anybody know the answer?

Yes. I recently switched ViaCAD development from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I have Windows 10 Pro, with 64 bit operating system, on the note for ordering Viacad 2D v9, it mentioned v9 set for 64 bit, but does not currently utilize the 64 bit feature. Is anyone using the v9 on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit operating system? I would like to try to use this software, but no reason to order if it will not work on the 64 bit system.

Thank you.

Hello Otto
V9 is 32 bit and runs fine on 32 or 63 bit Windows. V10 is 64 bit and will not work on 32 bit Windows.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for the information. I received the DVD, two day overnight late Friday, put it in, downloaded, put in the registration key, it said "Unable to connect to any activation server. Please check your firewall and re-try". I followed their instructions, of course sent note to Tech Support, hum, do not work after 5PM, closed Sat and Sun, so much for paying extra for 2 night shipping and then not available to help me get this up so I can use it. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.

I originally purchased this back in May, 2010, come in 6 years later and bigger and with issues just to get it loaded and to start. Grrrr.

Hi Otto,
I know you are disappointed, but you can download the Ver. 10 Beta, and export your work as
ViaCad Ver.9, until your registration information arrives.

Hi Larry,

I thank you for the information, I have to admit, I retired the end of 2010, I know, Old Goat, from IT (Information Technology) working and programming applications on the IBM mainframe. When I read the version 10 Beta, being an old hand at IBM machines, when IBM came out with say a new release, say version 15.7.23.1 and it replaces version 15.7.21.o, we usually felt pretty good and confident, after we read all the products impacted (working for the bank, if we implemented and then had the system go down, there was *)(^*(&^(*^ to pay. When IBM went from say 15.7.23.1 to 16.0, we did nothing, waited for others to try it and see what happened.

I do not have any old work anymore, I upgraded my workstation at home and did not need anything. Now, I'm looking at building a home in Garden Valley, Id., and thought I would put a floor plan together, tweak it, and tweak it, and probably get frustrated, and work some more on it and then take it to the builder and see what he has to say about building and pricing it so I know if my current home will cover the costs.

At this time I think I will wait for Monday and see what they have to say from Tech support, I followed their directions, disabled my Norton software, made sure the application from Punch was under administrator authorization, but as you know, kaput.

If they want me to load version 10, then they can help me get it up and running. I have found when you have old versions, sometimes things get twisted and then we must be careful we do not break something.

Anyway, bottom line Larry, thank you for reaching out, that is appreciated and sometimes we forget to acknowledge assistance, such as you and Tim, and the others that have commented.

Perhaps I will make it yet.

Enjoy your week. I will probably be told, stop writing a book, I know, I know.

Otto

It should run in a trial mode until you have time to activate.

Good morning Tim,

I saw that as an option on the logon screen where I put the registration information, I will give it a shot and see what happens.

Thank you for letting me know, I was leery

I was thinking if I did the trial, might discombobulate further ability to actually get it up and running.

Hi Tim,

GULP, Holy catfish, just reading the tip of the days, wore me out.

I have a feeling my old 1994-2009 Punch ViaCAD 2d users manual I have (printed), dated second edition, 2009, may be out of date.

It is working, may need to make a big pot of coffee.

I'm back Tim,

Looking at Punch web site, looking for user manuals that I can download and have to read, where are they located, do you know?

So far, I have not come across anything such as PDF for ViaCAD 2D and I'm sure my old 230 + page manual is outdated.

Hi Tim,

I found the help user manual, all I had to do was look under help on the software when it was up and running, appears to be a bit bigger like about double in pages. I better get my reading glasses.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Tim,

I sent another request to Technical, I am now wandering if I should have ordered the 2D/3D 9 JP version, have requested Technical to call me on Monday to talk to them, figure out why I cannot connect and should I exchange my 2D v9 for the 2D/3D 9 JP.

Otto

P.S. How or what is the secret to sign out from the forum so it knows I have left? I have not been able to determine, I see the Signout at top, but it appears to do nothing.
