Program will not open. I tried reinstalling and still will not open. I am ctrl+click etc, and I've used this for two years now. I wanted to price the upgrade but I cannot access the serial number. Not even my files!

Any ideas?

Does it display an error dialog? If not, does it display a message in Console?

no error. the icon bounces for a few (2 minutes on the first try, seconds on subsequent attempts) and... nothing. Doesn't showup in the resource monitor. I've used it on this machine for couple yrs.? The machine was off for a few months and now its back up and running. VCAD is not. I actually got the email about V10 and decided to look.

The only thing that's changed on this machine is the usual updates from apple. It's running "yosemite 10.10.5" I'm not a regular console user so I have no idea if anything is reported.

I'm not sure offhand. You might want to contact tech support and request a current installer to reinstall the product.

If you are rushing to use the black friday promo, you will find the serial number in the the VCPRegInfo.ini or VC3RegInfo.ini file found with a search.

Hey thanks for your help. I was not able to find anything except a support ticket opening under the new orders section. The support section goes to a knowledge base... not especially useful here. Useless actually. No mac-specific support etc..

Example, I don't have any .ini files on this mac. Maybe that's a windows type?

It is the same text file on Mac and PC.

For ViaCAD Pro the file location is:

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/com.encore.viacadprov9esd/VCPRegInfo.ini

For ViaCAD 2D3D the file location is:

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/com.encore.viacad3dv9esd/VC3RegInfo.ini

interesting. I dont have a library folder after the user (user/library/...) only under macintoshHD/library/application support/...

In this folder there is no com.encore folder.

usually on mac the user library folder is hidden. -> go to finder and use "go to" menu with alt key. you will see the library in the pull down menu.
