Hi, I've just scanned with my Scanify 3D scanner a baby seat. I exported a ply, and an stl. fetched them both into ViaCAD, the ply is HUGE and the stl is normal size. I'll try and upload the files but they are big. How do you report bugs?

What are you concerned about? The file size or the physical size of the imports? Scaling by 0.03937 sees this result. Imperial units .vs metric?

Had a feeling it would be something like that. I've noticed quite a lot of the conversion errors in different parts of the software, where it is obviously written in imperial and then changed to metric (or at least that's how it seems) But there are no import options for a ply so not given the information to work with initially. If I brought something in measuring imperial sizes what would happen then? I'm not sure, either way it's the wrong size :-) I'm just playing around with some scans I've beendoing and seeing what I can do with ViaCAD with them. But when they are coming in massive in comparison to what they should be it's a little worrying Cheers

On the basis of that, I think it's just the unit conversion, easy to confirm and adjust to suit. Not a heart-stopper or a show-stopper.

Well no it's not a show stopper, but if we all just worked around the issues everyone seems to find with the software then we wouldn't get very far would we? I wouldn't say that converting it back is easy to confirm. Say I, or anyone else, scans something, or what ever. Moves away from the object (as in doesn't have contact with it anymore), then what? You can't confirm anything. I've reported it using the bug link thing, so hopefully it will get looked at.

I tried to open your file with meshlab but to no avail.
Imho meshlab is quite a powerful tool to analyse meshes of any kind,
may be that you like to try it as well:
