So I was just looking around the forum, and came across the manual for version 7, had a look through it and there seems to be a lot of options we no longer have? What's happened to them? Constraints, MicroScribe add-on, sheet metal, equations? I'd like to run a version 7 and experience these items. Is this possible?

I'm not sure if it is the same,
but when V9 was new this question also occured. Tim Olsen explained it with the very high licence rate for some function and the very low practice by the users also as the goals can be reached on different ways.

... so I believe to remember ... I don't know them also I don't miss them ;-)

In looking at the window pulldown menu you have there, it lists AeroPack as well. Aeropack is a product produced by a company called DARcorporation with a base of Shark FX. http://www.darcorp.com/S...ware/Shark_FX/AeroPack/. Some of the tools you are looking for are add ons by them for their AeroPack product. Below is a picture of the same pull down produced by Punch! Software. While some tools have been dropped and add from the Punch! Software version and they are for the reasons mentioned by Horst.w, some of the features you have mentioned would have only been available in the Darcorp product.

So the prices don't look too dissimilar to what it costs now? Shark pro and aeropack just over 2000.

the D-Cubed 2D/3D constraint manager was removed several versions ago mainly because of royalties for a seldom used functionality but also a mediocre implementation which would have required a lot of love to be fully integrated.

DCM 2D constraints get an undeservedly poor rap from some quarters. You can use variables and equations to link constraints that aren't part of the same figure or on the same plane, the "2D" description refers to graphical functionality, not mathematical. You have to plan ahead to use them, you can't constrain an edge length of a 3D object after creation, but I think that much of the criticism and accusations of poor implementation is based on "it's not like Creo or SolidWorks". They're lightweight and don't get in the way of other modelling paradigms, and one thing that the Shark implementation has over TurboCAD's (DCM constraints have been in TC for more than 20 years, and they get the same sort of put-downs in TC forums, obviously from people who don't use them...) is animation. Punch/Encore made their commercial decisions is all. Open-source FreeCAD's constraints are similar to DCM.
