I'm going to be purchasing a new macbook pro 13 for running VC. Other than cad work, I use parallels some to run CAM software, other than that its just emails and internet. I plan to upgrade to a 512SSD and 16gb ram. My question is to the processor and if upgrading is worth the cost. I have some large VC files that take a long time to load and work with. The available processors are 2.3ghz i5 w/turbo up to 3.6ghz or a 2.5ghz i7 w/turbo up to 4.0ghz. Both are dual core.

Hi - I have a laptop with an i5 and one with an i7 Whilst most mac apps individually can make use of limited system resources, the extra threads/cores keep the system overall and other apps running nice & smoothly SSDs are essential, 16G RAM, and i7 is nice - not sure about graphics Jol
