This is the the biggest sin of this software (Shark Pro). You pay a lot for great tools, translators, features, but it is working only with simply projects. If You have a big assemblies or any model with rich history it doesn't work or crashes your model or software as well. I bought Shark to use precise curves in MTS model, but after weeks I realized the internal engine for projection curves is sometimes worse than "simply curves". When I asked support to help me understand why it is happening they told me to use "simply curves" instead of "precise". Can You believe that! They have been selling expensive tool and recommend to use the tool from much cheaper software. And it's not enought, export to pdf also changes precise curves to polylines so at the moment I don't see the reason to use this tool - maybe just to export to Illustrator.

Exactly! I say the same thing for a long time. By the way, export to Illustrator is disgusting. It’s easier to re-draw an object than to edit a lot of small fragmented lines.

To maintain the discussion, I fried potatoes. Caution, still hot! :)
100% SharkCAD modeling.

Thank you @Magicart. Maybe coffee? :)
This is the last from "Recicled paper packaging".
Modeled with SharkCAD, textured with 3d-Coat, real-time rendering with Marmoset Toolbag.

would like to hear some comments concerning your experiences with the solid modeling of Rhino.

Yeah, this night is long and thousands of solids to generate - coffe You prepared is the only one thing I need right now! Really perfect!!

if I understand you correct, Rhino doesn't provide true solids but treats manifold (= watertight) surfaces similar to SketchUp as a 'solid' but empty shell, i.e. doesn't provide real solid modeling w/ features.

well, Rhino is basically a freeform surface modeler:

Hi,
The result for drawings, plane views, section tools, holes e.g. is no matter solid or polysurfaces for Rhino - you get correct drawings, renders. You can use boolean tools either solids or polysurfaces. I' ve imported very serious solids assemblies from Shark to Rhino and nothing exploded and I could continue my work in rhino and do the same what I did in Shark using solids tools. If You want to talk more send me mail in private- I don't want to be disrespectful :-)

Blender is a mesh modeling program. PunchCad is a solid modeling tool with some basic mesh functionality thrown in. As was said here it depends what you want to do. CAM cant handle meshes except as an entire model which is useless for engineering or manufacturing. But on the other hand a solid model would completely lack surface detail and be hopeless for a detailed render of a print, or animation.
Blender is competing with software like 3D Max (that only Hollywood can afford). I think the biggest issue for PunchCad in competition is Fusion 360. We now use it for most CAM work now... you just cant bet it. Although I hate the design workbench, manipulating and generating sketches within the program is advantageous compared to returning to Shark and uploading changes,, then regenerating all tool paths.. etc.
I would like to see Shark integrated with CAM, but that's probably dreaming.

It would be great to hear from Tim or who ever owns the software now. A word of confidence in the future of the software. I'm using ViaCad Pro 11 and it's such a relief to work in, after you used Blender. So it would be great to see some more activity. I remember those times, not long ago, regular betas were pushed out and bug reports were answered and solved. I really felt part of a live community. Now even this forum feels like it's hanging on to the end of the Internet, where forgotten pages and old software resides. Where people like us come for a bit of nostalgia.

I normally have success private emailing to Tim or Todd. I honestly don't think they spend much time monitoring the forum. Give it a go. Claus

Hello Wolfgang >> I’ve reported a very serious bug to the developers of VCP, regarding the generation of STL files, We have a 1441 WIP build available which was uploaded 1-2 weeks ago and is the latest. Can you remind me what the serious STL bug was? Tim

Hi Tim, I just discovered this build.
It can be installed, but doesn't launch for me.
Translation : " SharkCad is damaged and can't be opened. You should trash it"
I tried several times downloading and installing.
It stops at the stage where we had a system security alert on all previous builds : "unknown developper".
