Hello,

i like to draw a ring with text around.
The problem is, to find the right size for the text.
I cannot see how the text looks, when i use 'along curve text'
I want the text horizontel to the ring, see picture.not vertikal, what is a little easier to use.

So, first i need to change objekt type, to see what Text along curve did.
After this i have to do all the steps again.
And it is very difficult and/or not possible to change the textsize.
Is there any hint or a walkaround ?

Thank you very much for every help!

Sorry, i forgot; i tried it with ViaCad 10 pro and with SharkCad 12

Hi Andeas: in this particular case I can recommend to make use of MoI3d + flow command, it is very easy, search the forum, there are very many examples of this specific task which might help you in your special workflow.

You can try to use the curve bend tool for solids. Keep in mind that you will need to do trial and error figuring out the alignment orientation but you can accomplish that by drawing a bounding box around the text so you can pick orientation and the two points required. Hope that helps.

hello Garlic,

the version of MoI3d is not working with MacOsx, they wrote, i have to wait for Version 4

hello rockyroad_us

the ring on the picture is made with the bend tool. But it streches the letters to much.

Maybe i have to make every letter by hand an move i to the place i want, not very comfortable.

You might need to figure out the outside perimeter of the ring and draw a line corresponding to the perimeter so that you can position the letters along the line. I don't know how the back of the letters behave. Maybe you can post a file to help.

Here's my attempt. Note that I added a bounding box corresponding to the perimeter of the ring. So when you pick your 2 poins in the curve bend it will correspond to the perimeter. Note that I spaced the letters the way you would want to space them. There's a line I drew which I got from your text spacing to set it off from the end of the box so it will be spaced from the first word since it will bend.

The key is that if I bend the bounding box, you will get that ring which you have extruded. You can suppress the bend feature to see how I arranged the letters in the bounding box.

Does your version of SharkCAD 12 or VCP 11 have wrap? It's under solid utilities in SharkCAD Pro, it wraps your text around a solid cylinder, I think that'd make it really easy to visualise spacing and style, it's associative so you can jigger the spacing and everything else. I've used wrap here with your text. To produce the text, I put a solid block under the text curves and extruded the text from it as a single protrusion feature. The text is completely associative and editable, and the height and draft of the protruded letters is editable in concept explorer. I bent the block with text at the face that the text's extruded from around the diameter of the ring, and intersected it with a thickened cylindrical sweep to produce the letters.

Hello Andreas,

I found a YouTube video called "Punch!Cad v12 Tutorials - Wrap (Imprint, Emboss, Engrave). It is very good and informative. Maybe it can help you.

I will try to copy the link here: [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GAk5UzVscs]. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GAk5UzVscs

Keith
