Is anyone else having problems with ViaCad 11 and MAC OS 11 Big Sur?

Hi Bill, I am running ViaCAD 10 Pro on my MacBook Pro. Yesterday I have upgraded the MacOS from Catalania to Big Sur. I started ViaCAD and my standard settings for background colour etc were lost. Now it’s not possible to change the background to an other colour and also it’s not possible to create any lines, primitives, etc on the worksheet. For example: When I start a line and pull the second point, the black line is visible. After release the mouse button the line disappears. That’s my experience up until now. I’m just searching for further information on the web. Regards from Germany Joachim

I had this reply from Todd Quinlan yesterday:
Quote: Hi Bill Bedford, Version 11 of the software is not compatible with Big Sur. You would need to upgrade to V12. The upgrade cost is $149.99USD and you can use the link below to access the proper upgrade.
So it looks as if there is no alternative to upgrading

I too am having problems with V11 it doesn't display any of the 2D or 3D primitives, since Big Sur went on. I saw the note about V12 fixing the problem but I am very loath to commit more money to solve a fault on something that mainly worked well before . So I'm inclined to sit on the fence for bit and see how the story pans out. There must have been something in 12 that fixed a known pending problem, I am surprised that a patch wasn't made available at the time for existing V11 users. I am tempted to buy it to play with the animation but since the 10mins of video documentation at time of V11 release is largely worthless I may not bother. There is a nice engine on the box it would be decent if some written documentation was there to walk through at least 15% of that type of thing.

It's been a rocky road to stick with ViaCAD from TurboCAD V2 through V10, (2D up thru 3D) then to ViaCAD Pro 10 and then ViaCAD Pro 11. I've seen fits and starts, some workable and others requiring a payoff upgrade. I'm seeing that the personal use cost isn't worth staying unto date, especially when it has been common, you need a version for the next level of operating system, then just buy our latest and greatest. Thank you for all the customer loyalty.

now i have a problem. since a while, i use sharkcad 12. When i need a model to sheeet i used ViaCad 10. because in SharkCad. my version will not show the possibility (the frame, i have no idea to explain, hope you will understand ) to change the view ( viewproperty ) in the sheet. so, what can i do now, i upgradet to Big Sur. And in some tools the ViaCad 10 was more stabil.

Same here. ViaCAD Pro v11 build 1441 on macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 will not display anything, not even the axis. Won't change background colour. It is disappointing that you need buy an upgrade for fixing an issue instead of the issue being fixed. Thanks for your post.

I have sharkcad V12 and I cannot get it to work with Big Sur so far (opens but doesn't display any models or lines drawn). I checked and am on the current build of the software and big sir and both are current. Sent email to Punch support today about it, will update when I hear something. But for now it doesn't look like V12 works with big sur.

You need a build later than 1569. You may have to ask support to send you a copy. The latest build in the beta program is 1572, so that would be another way of getting a copy that works on Big Sur.
