I have a solid where I want to remove some features from a solid . I am not proficient with the software so replies will have to be how to this in very simple terms , Thanks , ErnieD

Hi,
You can use 'deep select' It's in the menu shown. If you can't see it press and hold that menu and it pops out.
Select the face you want to remove and hit delete.
