Hi,

Been using basic 3d/2d for many years. Interchangeably importing/exporting step files. This is important because it is the format of choice for manufacturers. My computer went down and I lost the disk and so I had no choice but to 'upgrade' to the latest version. I'm really quite annoyed by this. On the upgrade I lost the STEP file export, if I am reading things correctly, and so I am now in a bit of a mess. I'm not familiar with other file formats, so is there a way of exporting/ importing one of the other formats and converting to STEP perhaps.

I'm really quite desperate any suggestions welcome.

Version 12.0 Just bought it. The Step import/export should be there according to the user guide. It is not a premium feature. And I am using a PC. Thanks. Oh and I am using the ViaCAD 2d/3D.

Even if you lost the disk, you should be able to download a demo version of a previous version and should work for a month or 15 days until you manage to get that old version registered. It is good practice to backup your hard drive once in a while.

Good luck exporting .stp from a PC. That feature should be there as export.

It's not present in 2D/3D because ACIS isn't in VC non-Pro anymore, so no NURBS support, but they haven't been explicit, I'd say they've been misleading about it. No .stp, no .igs.

Hi,
i am new to VIACAD since my boss made me use it.

I having a lot of Problems importing STEP files.

They won't work (Missing integer is displayed) or if they work they come in in wrong Units. Means mm is change into Inch so the Model becomes much bigger. Which is kind of a Problem mostly for standard Parts.

I already send a report to support but by now the only solution was a trial of Viacad 12, that worked but boss won't pay.

I am Using VIACAD v10.0.4 Pro Build 1359

On a Win 10 Pro Xenon 3,5GHZ 64bit System.

The latest Build of V. 10 is 1369. SharkVia export the steps only in imperial, but also metric steps was imported in the right way. I cant repeat your problem.

thanks for the answer.

when i check for updates it says: "You are running the most current build. No update is necessary."

see screenshot. I am also in contact with support but until now there is no solution.

Boss has same version it woorks tried to uninstall an intall several times.

Uninstall is not needed. Tha latest build is not provided with the auto updater. This WIP Builds was provided here in the forums over the masterviacad-platform. I have no idea why the best Builds not available with the autoupdater. I guess they will force you in this way to do a upgrade.

WIP builds accessed through the masterviacad site stand for work in progress builds.

WIP builds do not go through the rigorous testing by QA and include the note below. The builds accessed through the updater are fully tested by QA.

If you use a WIP build, I recommend you append a version number to current build as backup before you install the WIP.

Having said that, I'm not aware of any major issues with the V12 WIP builds.

Also, the only issues I'm aware of with the STEP translator are typically related to tolerances of trimmed surfaces which can be verified using Verify Check Object tool. The STEP provided above checks out fine. If you do have tolerance issues, I would then try SAT/SAB after STEP, especially if coming from SolidWorks. SolidWorks includes ACIS components as both Spatial and SolidWorks fall under the Dassault umbrella and share certain technology.

Todd from support gave me build 1370 today that seems to work fine.

thanks for helping again.

Edit: Yesterday i overwrote the EXE-folder under Punch with the EXE-folder from my boss. That helped! instead of 2d/3D build 1370 Eng, i've got now Pro german build 1359. Which is last in German.

Probably there where some missing .dll files.
